SILVER SPRINGS FORD AND MUSTANG ROUND-UP

Larry Dobbs has been a car club member for 30 years. He is the publisher of Mustang Monthly Magazine and was inducted in the Mustang Hall of Fame in 2005. He has supported the Iacocca Foundation as he himself has type I diabetes.

AACA ANNUAL

Peter Garlepy is a Life Member of AACA. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors and at the time, the current webmaster of the AACA website (12 years, will retire this year) which has boosted AACA membership over the years and provided detailed information on the web for car enthusiasts.

Gene Epstein created a program called “The Common Ground Mission,” which embraces young Jews, Christians, and Muslims in a program of understanding.

Arnold Marks has been a car club member for 50 years. He owns a shop where he holds a yearly clinic, which members can work on their cars. Arnold is also an auto mechanics teacher. Arnold is one of the original members of the MOCC since it started in 1978.

MCA GRAND NATIONAL
August 30, 2008 – Park City, UT *NPD
Larry Miller owns Miller Motorsports Park in Grantsville, UT, which also has a museum of Shelby collections. Miller Motorsports Park has been noted as one of the premier racetracks in Northern California. Larry Miller has recently fallen ill due to diabetes complications. He was hospitalized at the time of the award, so his son, Bryan Miller, accepted the award on his behalf.

ROCKY MOUTNAIN CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE
August 31, 2008 – Colorado Springs, CO *NPD
Roger Morrison has served as a member and chairman of the McPherson College Advisory Board since its inception of its auto restoration program. He has the distinction of being one of, if not the longest serving team of judges for the famous Concours Pebble Beach Show.

Tom Sutphen has a Automotive and Fire Engine Museum in Hilliard, OH. Tom has been involved in car clubs and shows for over 55 years. To this day, he participates in vintage car tours, including Caravans, hosted by the Classic Car Club of America.

Roger Kash has been an AACA Southeastern Region member for 40 years. He has been very involved in many areas, including as a judge and chairperson at most all National events.

Bill Warner is the founder of The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and has been an avid car collector all of his life. He is an award winning photographer and writer for Sports Car Graphic, Road & Track and dozens of respected national magazines, prestigious museums and celebrated automotive venues. Bill is also recognized by his countless charitable contributions.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND CONCOURS AND MOTORING FESTIVAL
November 2, 2008 – Hilton Head, S.C. *NPD
Paul Ianuario was an advisor to BMW as they were creating their auto museum and subsequently named curator. In recent years, he’s consulted to a number of major auto museums and served on various boards, such as the LeMay in Washington State. He also serves as a judge at major concours events around the country.

SOUTHERN YOSEMITE AUTOMOTIVE FILM FESTIVAL
March 28 – 30, 2008, Oakhurst, CA
Kathy McCorry is responsible for making the festival happen every year (via leadership and hard work). She is a huge car fanatic and loves everything about cars and the car culture. She uses her passion for cars to help promote, volunteer, and provide a solid foundation for the Southern Yosemite region.

MOPARS AT THE STRIP
March 28-29, 2008 – Las Vegas, NV
Jim and Zona Painter (joint award) are owners of Painter Motor, a Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge Franchise commencing in 1945.  Jim and Zona have 60 years in the car business, 60 years of marriage, 10 children, 37 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. These two have made cars their business and their hobby for over half a century.

CALIFORNIA SPECIAL/ GALPIN FORD
April 19, 2008 – Los Angeles, CA
Paul Newitt has written for a number of car magazines (Mustang Monthly, Shelby American, Mustang Time). He is a huge car enthusiast, especially interested in mustangs. Paul played an integral role in researching and discovering the “Green Hornet” – the most rare Shelby mustang ever built.

Joseph Cassini, III (a.k.a. “Judge Cassini”) owns and exhibits 3 vintage cars, which were featured on the show poster and sold to benefit the Burn Prevention Foundation.

LA CONCOURS
June 1, 2008 – Pasadena, CA
Jack Nethercutt is the owner of Nethercutt Museums (which was started by his father, JB Nethercutt, in 1971). The Museum showcases over 200 cars and is open to the public for free tours. Jack continues to enrich the legacy of his father, a true car enthusiast and collector.

ARTHRITIS AUTO SHOW
July 11-12, 2008 – Dublin, OH
This show is sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation. This year, they honored The Ohio Mustang Club for all they have done to raise awareness for the Foundation. Dan Trapp, president of the club, accepted the award on behalf of the entire club.

GUNNISON CAR CLUB
August 30-31, 2008 – Gunnison, CO
Sam Memmolo, star of the television show “Two Guy’s Garage,” was honored. Sam has a 40-year career in car themed radio and television broadcasting. He uses his tv car show and radio broadcasts to promote fundraising for his philanthropic endeavors.

SLANT SIX CLUB
October 5, 2008 – North Brunswick, NJ
Ben Deutschman has been President of his car club, the NJ Slant-Six club. Ben has developed web pages, written newsletters, and expanded club activities. He is an advocate for laws protecting the collector car hobby and organized the “Metuchen Cruise Night” to get the word out for his cause.

WPC CAR SHOW
July 13-17, 2008 – Farmington, PA
Sandy and “Woody” Hummer (joint award) specialize in the preservation of the American automotive tradition. They are in charge of the WPC booth at the Hershey, PA swap meet every year. Sandy and Woody’s enthusiasm for cars and their club attracts new members every year.

FORGE MUSCLE SHOW
September 12-13, 2008 – Kingsport, TN
Tim and Pam Wellborn (joint award) host a gathering of win cars every 5 years on the lawn of their home. Tim is a proud owner of a very rare car, the 1971 Hemi Charger. He became a car aficionado at age 14, and bought his car 2 years before he even had his license. He fixed up the car, and used it to woo his high school sweetheart, Pam, who is now his wife of many years.

CHEVROLET CAR SHOW
September 14, 2008 – Pasadena, CA
Jean Fink has been the editor of the monthly car magazine “The Generator & Distributor” for the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. She is dedicated to writing about not only the cars, but the people who own and drive them, thus personifying the car culture. Jean is particularly involved with restoration of old Chevrolets and is an integral member of the VCCA.

PALOS VERDES CONCOURS D’ ELEGANCE

Aaron Weiss exemplifies the true spirit of collecting and showing his wonderful collection of American Classic automobiles. He has always been a gracious host of events at his display/garage for other automobile enthusiasts and restorers.
